  • I offer a 6-month spotting/rotting guarantee on milk pieces.

  • Damaged or loose/fallen-out DNA gems can be fixed, but shipping is not covered, and your warranty does NOT start over. Please note if you are purchasing a setting without prongs to hold your gem in place, it is more prone to falling out as it’s just held in with resin, which is generally a stronger bond than most jewelry glue but can still fail. (To help prevent this, I put a sealing layer over the top of your gem to help prevent them from shifting, however, some things are out of my control.) While this isn’t a problem I’ve had often, it *can* happen and is more likely to occur with these style settings over ones with prongs for an extra hold.

  • I save milk on file for roughly 1 year after the purchase date for any future purchases or repairs.

  • I do not cover damages to metals or non-DNA stones as I am not the one creating most of the settings, and those issues will need the attention of someone who specializes in the said craft.

  • At this time most of my necklaces do NOT come with the chain or other hardware unless otherwise stated.

  • Handmade jewelry can have some imperfections such as bubbles, pits, and uneven texture or shape. Elements can float or sink, flecks and other add-ins can do the same. Some things are out of my control being handmade and working with such elements. The whole process from preserving, casting, sanding, and sealing is done all by hand. I do not have big, fancy machines to help. Be proud to buy uniquely, handmade, with love items.

  • Please remember each jewelry piece is 100% unique and exclusive to each client. The photos provided are examples and do not represent the exact way every piece will look. I cannot guarantee one will look like the other as I cannot control the colors, the way it's swirled, etc. We can base our project closely on another design, but each piece will vary and will be as unique as the person it is designed for. Specific looks don't always happen, but you may request your idea.

  • By choosing Mind Over Matter to preserve your elements you know that some details are out of my control and cherish the fact that these are handmade pieces. Pieces are not factory, or mass-produced, and are made with love. By choosing me, you have chosen my unique style and touch to create your pieces.

  • Please keep jewelry away from children as pieces can be choking/strangulation hazards. It is up to you to inspect your jewelry often and do not allow your child to pull on, chew, or wear your piece. Most jump rings will pull apart with force, therefore, causing the possibility to come apart, releasing your setting from the chain. Eye screws can also come apart given too much force. They are set with resin, but they can still come apart. Also, please do not keep them where a pet can get to them. I have found pets to be extremely curious about the placenta and breast milk jewelry. To ensure the safety of children, pets, AND your jewelry please keep out of reach of children and PETS!

  • Please be mindful that as your pieces are created to be worn daily normal wear is going to happen. It is up to you to follow the wearing instructions as well as inspect your piece before each use for loose hardware, etc. Most pieces are made from high-quality resin, which is a durable plastic and under typical wear will last for time to come. Pieces range from durable to a little more delicate wear. I also offer a range of casings, lockets, etc to add to the protection of your gems. As each piece is as durable as possible I do recommend taking extra steps and precautions to keep your jewelry looking new.

  • Pieces that contain glass CAN crack or break if dropped or knocked against something too aggressively. Please treat your pieces with care and inspect them often. Glass pieces also have the possibility to separate from the glass if exposed to moisture or shrinking of the resin. Typically, it is not very noticeable and not a big deal to moms who want extra protection around their milk.

  • Raw honeycomb pieces are intolerant to extreme heat and sunlight, so please keep your pieces out of the sun, hot cars, and other overly warm spaces to prolong their life.

  • My Breastmilk preservation method will go through a period of oxidation/degassing before it gets to its final shade, more to the shade of your milk fats. Cream versus crisp white. It depends on the amount of fats in your milk, so each piece is unique to the milk you send. Medications and how you follow prepping instructions can also impact the way the milk works with this method. All of the pieces start bright, crisp white. It’s due to a chemical reaction and will fade out after they have fully cured to the air and UV light. I choose not to hold pieces back until after oxidation because clients want to wear their pieces right away and this keeps a much better flow for orders.

  • ALL resin will eventually yellow, even the best they produce will in time, it happens. If your artist claims otherwise, that should be a big red flag. However, artists can use a top jeweler-grade resin as I do for my pieces to ensure longevity, and am always testing new brands. Think about white items in your home and daily life. Most will become yellowed or dingy with time unless treated with abrasive chemicals. Paper, paint, teeth, etc will all change in time no matter how stored or well cared for. There are too many factors that go into how quickly your piece, if ever, will change. Are you a smoker? Do you smoke in your home? Do you cook with grease often? Are you a swimmer who forgets to remove your jewelry? Use harsh chemicals around your jewelry? Sunbathe often? Lotions, tanners, makeup? I cannot guarantee that your piece will never yellow, but I can say that with proper care it should not mold or spot, EVER.

  • Please keep in mind some of the BIG things that can impact the color or integrity of your piece. UV light (harsh sunlight), hand sanitizer, keeping it in a dark place without any light, extreme heat, or cold, if you use chemicals, perfumes, lotions, soot from fireplaces, are a smoker, you cook with oils often, etc. The list can go on. All of these things will impact your piece and its longevity in time.
DO NOT store in a dark drawer where it gets 0 light. Do NOT store in direct light. (A vanity table top in a sealed clear container or on a stand is best.) DO NOT allow your pieces to get hot. Especially milk or honeycomb pieces. Heat will make it yellow/deform. DO NOT submerge in water for any length of time, a quick rinse in warm water is all it ever needs. DO NOT use lotions, perfumes, hand sanitizers, or other harsh chemicals around your keepsakes.

    *******Cleaning Instructions*******

  • Jewelry Care
Use a microfiber cloth dry or lightly damp to clean the resin parts of your keepsakes.
Sterling silver is an alloy containing metals that react with chemicals found in the air and produce tarnish; high moisture levels, exposure to sunlight, and contaminants such as salt water increase this reaction. This does not mean it will turn your finger green, it just means it may need polishing. Protect your keepsakes by storing them in a clear, airtight container, clean, and or store them with tarnish-resistant products (such as tarnish tabs or strips) that absorb chemicals. Always store in a cool, dry place. Most tarnish is easily removed by polishing with a mild buffing cloth or anti-tarnish solution.

  • Hourglass Care
Handle with care, glass will shatter if used too aggressively. DO NOT open the hourglass as the sand could be harmful if inhaled. If broken use proper PPE to clean up. Place DNA sand in a ziplock and toss the damaged glass. DO NOT display in sunlight. - For the first month or two after purchase please shake the sand to ensure it cures out evenly. ALL the sand will pass through the bulbs and has been tested several times before being sent home.

  • DNA Globe/Crystal Ball Care
Handle with care, glass or plastic could shatter if used too aggressively. DO NOT open. Do NOT store in windows or direct sunlight. For the first few months shake often to ensure an even cure out of your DNA element. If broken use proper PPE to clean up. Place DNA elements in a ziplock and toss the damaged plastic/glass.

  • Vitally Encased Heart Care
Handle with care and lightly buff with micro fiber cloth dry or lightly damp. Do NOT display in sunlight. Be sure to shake your piece every so often to ensure your elements remain flowing and well combined.

  • Plated Décor Care
Depending on how you had your piece finished you will have a few different methods to keep your piece looking like you want. If you choose a bare-plated piece, it will oxidize much like copper. This method can be polished and buffed to be shiny again but will keep oxidizing unless it is sealed. As for patina colorings, they CAN and likely will change a little, especially if they are not sealed. These can be buffed and polished as needed. Do not use chemicals as they can damage the piece.
